PAT testing

Around 1000 electrical accidents at work are reported to HSE each year and about 25 people die of their injuries according to the Health and Safety Executive. Many deaths and injuries arise from use of poorly maintained portable electrical appliances. Fires are also started by faulty electrical appliances which cause many additional deaths and injuries.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) requires employers to ensure that portable appliances are safe for use, maintained in a safe condition and inspected to ensure this remains the case.
