Evacuation Chair

Course overview
The Evacuation Chair training course will give employees an understanding of the legislation surrounding evacuation from buildings and build the confidence and ability to use an evacuation chair safely. It will demonstrate the part that evacuation chairs can play in an employer's arrangements for the means of escape for persons unable to use stairs and provide the competency required to ensure that procedures are carried out in practice. The course is run using your own equipment.

Outline programme
This two hour course for up to 4 people covers the following topics:

Ø       Short theory session on legislation, risk assessment and chair design features and who it is suitable for
Ø       Lifting and carrying the evacuation chair
Ø       Getting the person into the evacuation chair
Ø       Using the evacuation chair, including stairways
Ø       Looking after the person when out of the building
Ø         Simple visual checks

Who should attend?
The employees of companies that has an evacuation chair on site where they occupy multi-storey buildings and who currently have not considered emergency evacuation for the mobility impaired or those who are unable to walk down stairs.
