DSE Assessments

Back pain associated with working at a computer workstation is a major cause of sickness absence from work. The Health and Safety Executive (2009) estimate that there are around half a million people with some form of back complaint caused by work and one in five people working in small firms have had back strain. The average small firm is said to be losing 22 days of work a year from employees experiencing back pain. The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations place a legal obligation on employers to assess workstation risks.

Health and Safety Compliance Services offers a service for companies wishing to reduce the cost of sickness absence, comply with their legal obligations and manage the risks associated with users of computer workstations.

The Workstation (DSE) Assessment is an on-site risk assessment service for employees who use computer workstations. A qualified Workstation Assessor will carry out a detailed assessment of each workstation in conjunction with the user on a one-to-one basis which will include the positioning, height and relationship of the chair, keyboard, screen and telephone as well as other issues.
