Course overview

This qualification is designed for those who use substances hazardous to health at work. It introduces candidates to substances, the risks and controls available, and outlines what to expect from a Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessment. The qualification will prepare employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in their workplaces.

The course covers the following topics:

Ø  Definition and types of substances hazardous to health in the workplace

Ø  Health effects of hazardous substances and their causes

Ø  COSHH assessments and control options

Ø  Responsibilities imposed by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002

 

Who should attend?

The course is suitable for all employees who use or come into contact with hazardous substances during their work activities. No previous health and safety qualification or experience is required.  

 

Qualification information

Delegates who attend the course are issued with a training Certificate detailing the course and its components. Suggested progression on completion is the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Level 2 and 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace.
